As equity markets coast to fresh all-time highs, several companies have dusted off their plans to list their shares and are preparing to come out with an initial public offering (IPO). An IPO allows current shareholders sell part of the stake to the public at large, with funds being used either to fund existing operations or prove an exit to some investors. Investors should, however, tread cautiously on IPOs as various studies show that investing in IPOs can result in below-market performance. For instance, Rs 100 invested in a so-called IPO index (comprising of all issues) since 2004 would have grown to Rs 250, while the same money invested in Sensex would have increased to Rs 530, according to this article. That said, here are some interesting IPOs that have either been announced or have been reported to be coming out soon.

Never depend only on IPO market. Chances of shares appreciating after listing is around 25% only. Instead, watch daily movements and pounce on right opportunities at the right time. ( 15 days ago )
